What They May Ask You

Expect a few simple questions. They help the provider get ready.

• What is the door doing? Is it stuck, loud, slow, or crooked?
• Did it happen after a storm, a hard freeze, or flooding?
• Do you hear a bang or see a gap in the spring?
• Is the door open or closed right now?
• How old is the door and the opener?

A photo, if you can take one safely, can help too. Stay clear of the springs, cables, and brackets while you do. They hold a lot of tension.

Questions to Ask a Provider

You are allowed to ask anything. Here are good ones:

• Will you give me a written quote before starting?
• What is included in that price, parts and labor?
• Do you carry insurance and hold any required local license?
• Can you check track alignment and balance while you are here?
• What warranty comes with the parts and the work?

Costs vary by job, so a written quote is always wise.
